low quality photo enhancement.

I've decided to write this tutorial particularly because I've always came across wanting to use a photo for a particular purpose, but ended up discovering that it's too small or blurry i.e. of low quality. Therefore, I've tried to find a way to cover the low resolution pixels. The idea, however, is not to make a perfect larger version of the original picture, because that's impossible.

Below is a few photos I would like to show you first before you begin reading the tutorial. The first picture to the left is obviously the original photo (which is enlarged from the original resolution - since that's the whole point of this tutorial), and the one to the right is an example of how I improved the enlarged poor quality photo. As you can see, it's not exactly the same as the previous one, but a little bit different. What I did was again, using the Gaussian Blur effect. It is just so essential and I think it would be nice to remember how to use it, as it is a basic yet very useful photo editing technique.

1) The first step is to duplicate the layers after opening the files.

2) On the new duplicated layer, go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Select a value of 6 or 7, or any value you think works best on your image, then click OK.

3) After blurring your duplicated layer, go to your layers box and select the layer option as Screen. Lighten, Color Doge, Linear Dodge, Multiply and Soft Light are also possible. It depends on how bright your image is.

4) After you have done so, you can save the file and probably use it for a graphic designing image! Have fun.
